Abstract
► A novel method is developed for the component analysis of the solvation entropy. ► This method enables microscopic interpretation of macroscopic thermodynamic data. ► Solvation entropy increases upon misfolding of amyloid-beta protein in water. ► This increase is mainly attributed to the formation of non-local backbone contacts.
