Abstract
► The role of structure in the crystallization of GexTe100-x system is established by using EXAFS spectroscopy. ► Chemical order is less preserved for Ge than for Te atoms. ► The concentration of Ge-Ge bonds in the amorphous state needs to be controlled to accelerate the crystallization speed of GeTe films.
