Abstract
⺠We reveal the effect of NaCl salt on the OH stretching vibration of confined water. ⺠Ions preferentially destroy the tetrahedrally coordinated structures in core water ⺠Ions scarcely affect the interaction between silanols and the unconnected interfacial water film.
