Abstract
► Substituent effects in C6H5X…M+ (M+ = Li+, Na+, K+, and NH4+) complexes are studied. ► Isotropic nuclear magnetic shielding constants (σ) are proposed as a measure of substituent effects. ► The dependence of cation-π distance (R) on the σ was studied using the σ vs. R plots.
