Abstract
► A new H+ sensing SANDI compound has been synthesised and fully characterised. ► Addition of H+ leads to an increase (∼10-15%) in quantum yield and fluorescence lifetime. ► Absorption and emission are also blue-shifted ∼500-550 cm−1. ► This is fully reversible on exposure to base and can be repeated many times. ► Attributed to partially efficient PET in the neutral form blocked on protonation.
