Abstract
⺠Selection rules for Brillouin scattering by acoustic vibrations of a sphere. ⺠Selection rules are based only on the symmetry of the displacements. ⺠All spheroidal Lamb modes can be Brillouin active for large particles. ⺠Selection rules for Raman scattering from small particles are also discussed.
