Abstract
► Silver nanoparticles were grown in situ within gelatin matrix. ► Large optical shifts were observed at the gelation threshold. ► Optical shifts are not induced by a reorganization of the metal nanoparticles. ► Optical shifts result from the gel matrix scattering induced by hydrazine.
