Abstract
⺠Thin walled free standing hollow spheres of oxides and nitride have been prepared using amorphous carbon spheres as templates. ⺠All these otherwise non-magnetic spheres exhibit room temperature ferromagnetism. ⺠The origin of magnetism has been attributed to defects as evidenced from photoluminescence spectroscopy.
