Abstract
► A new type of minimal bromate oscillator was developed in this research. ► The new system exhibited spontaneous oscillations in a closed system. ► The number of oscillations is found to increase with substrate concentration. ► Spectroscopy measurements confirmed the bromination of benzoquinone. ► Quenching experiments suggest that the new oscillator is bromide-controlled.
