Abstract
⺠Quantum mechanical charge field molecular dynamics simulation of hafnium (IV) in water. ⺠Hafnium (IV) forms a stable eight coordinated hydrate complex, whose structure is similar to the square antiprism. ⺠The high Hf (IV)-O bond force constant classifies this bond as the strongest ion-water bond known so far.
