Abstract
► For the Morse oscillator, Vn=ℏωe2n+12. ► This result remains semi-quantative for realistic potentials. ► The result is consistent with intuition that for anharmonic oscillators, at low n, Tn≈ℏωe2n+12 while at large n, Tn≈0. ► This n dependence on the average Kinetic energy has implications for energy transfer in atom/diatom collisions.
