Abstract
⺠Fullerene C70 dissolves in ionic liquids bearing long alkyl chains (C8 or higher). ⺠The fluorescence properties of C70 in ILs are similar to those observed in conventional polar solvents. ⺠Fluorescence of fullerene C70 is completely quenched when chloride is present as the counter ion. ⺠Fluorescence decay analysis using a sum of Becquerel functions to account for the background emission of the ionic liquids allowed to successfully recover the solute's lifetime.
