Abstract
⺠Bonding of nanoparticles can be influenced by a surrounding matrix phase. ⺠A model of charge-transfer across the interface in nanocomposites is presented. ⺠The proposed model explains experimentally observed lattice expansion in nc-TiC/a-C. ⺠The proposed model is supported by theoretical simulations using DFT-methods. ⺠The results opens for new possibilities in materials design.
