Abstract
Nanoscale electrodeposition of Pb on Au(1Â 1Â 1) from an acidic chloroaluminate ionic liquid has been studied by in situ STM. Triangular-shaped vacancies of Pb cofined to a monoatomic height have been grown controllably.
