Abstract
In this Letter, we investigate chemical interaction effect on the compressibility of fullerene molecules. Molecular dynamic simulation showed that the nano-spheres compressibility depends on the specific chemical interaction with their environment. Interaction with polar and amphiphilic chemical moieties such as water and methanol rendered the fullerene less compressible. The study drags attention to the new finding that properties of fullerene cannot be discussed out of context of their chemical environment.
