Abstract
Emission properties of LaF3:Nd nanoparticles with different Nd3+ concentrations were investigated. The fluorescent lifetime was decreased with increasing the Nd3+ concentration. A relatively high quantum yield of 88% was obtained for the 0.5Â mol% samples. The larger emission cross-section and strong fluorescence intensity demonstrate that these nanoparticles are promising materials for laser applications.
