Abstract
We had earlier reported QENS studies on the molecular motions in 4O.4, 4O.8 and 5O.6 liquid crystals in the nO.m type liquid crystal family, demonstrating the successful description of dynamical motions as contributed from different parts of the molecule without using deuterated samples. Here we report the QENS studies on the reorientational motion of 6O.4 molecules in the crystalline and a liquid crystalline phase. Schematic of the liquid crystal 60.4 molecule. AB axis is the hexyloxy chain axis, CD axis is the molecular or core axis and EF axis is the butyl chain axis.
