Abstract
Ultrafine Pt nanoparticles were facilely prepared in zirconia nanofilms, and possessed unexpected high thermal stability due to spatial confinement, morphological change, and lattice matching in addition to the strong bonding interaction between the surface atoms of the nanoparticle and the surrounding oxygen atoms of the ZrO2 matrix.
