Abstract
The 266 nm photodissociation of n-butyl nitrite was investigated by probing the NO fragment. Highly excited and inverted rotational state distributions of the nascent NO (X2Î ) fragments were observed for all four vibrational levels (vâ³Â = 0, 1, 2, 3), which indicates that photodissociation of n-butyl nitrite is a direct and fast process.
