Abstract
Cationic open-shell singlet linear chain models (H3+ and H5+) exhibit negative γ values with significantly larger amplitudes than those of neutral analogues. The amplitudes increase nonlinearly with the average diradical character, while the chain-length dependence is enhanced by increasing the bond-length alternations.
