Abstract
The molecular structure of 5,10,15,20-tetra(1-naphthyl)porphyrin and 5,10-di(4-hexadecyloxyphenyl)-15,20-di(4-pyridyl)porphyrin were studied using high-energy X-ray diffraction. Porphirins and their derivatives have found an application in photodynamic therapy of tumours and benign diseases due to their ability to selective destruction of abnormally proliferating cells. The scattering experiments were carried out at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Grenoble, France. The X-ray scattered intensities were recorded on the high-energy ID15B beamline. The photon energy used for measurement was 90.45Â keV and the related wavelength was 0.1374Â Ã
