Abstract
Ï-Ï Stacking interactions between five natural DNA or RNA nucleobases and four aromatic amino acids (see picture) are compared for the first time. This choice of molecules allows us to consider the effects of the nucleobase, as well as the amino acid, on the nature and magnitude of protein-DNA stacking interactions.
