Abstract
The 17O quadrupolar coupling constants in carbohydrate hydroxyl groups and a glycosidic linkage have been measured, for the first time, using 17O NMR. Our analysis shows that a simple model can be used for relating the 17O electric field gradient to local structure around these functional groups.
