Abstract
We experimentally demonstrate a novel quantum control scheme involving pump and optimally-shaped-dump laser pulses. This allows selective control of molecular dynamics all the way to the product state and provides information on potential-energy surfaces. We apply this scheme to the photoisomerization of retinal in bacteriorhodopsin.
