Abstract
Sudden intensity changes and limited durations are two characteristics of most single molecule signals. Correlation functions of such 'truncated telegraph signals' contain linear segments and oscillatory features and deviate strongly from the expected exponential decay as shown in the figure. The Letter describes a new method to analyze such signals.
