Abstract
The spectra and molar absorption coefficients of the radical cations of anthracene, phenanthrene and pyrene (in acetonitrile at room temperature) have been recorded by photoinitiated reduction of tetranitromethane; the spectra of C(NO2)3-, the resulting anion, are shown on the right (in two solvents).
