Abstract
Relative rate methods were used to study the kinetics of the gas phase reactions of chlorine atoms with a series of ketones. The rate constants measured for pentanone and hexanone are approximately 2-3 times higher than the results from the available absolute rate studies. Likely explanations for the discrepancy are discussed.
