Abstract
The non-radiative rates of 3-phenylureidoquinoline are suppressed in micelles. A marked spectral shift in the negatively charged SDS is observed due to the formation of the cation, as a result of a low local pH and altered pKa of the fluorophore. In reverse micelle, non-radiative rates decrease on adding water.
