Abstract
Observed far-infrared spectrum (upper) of α,α-trehalose dihydrate in THz region was compared with calculated spectrum (lower). The two strong peaks at 68 and 76 cmâ1 are assigned to the torsion modes of two hydroxymethyl groups combined with the hydrogen torsional motion of two water molecules.
