Abstract
⺠We study OHâ¯OC H bond interactions in polyol-containing hydroxyketones. ⺠We examine changes in H bond strength with polyol size. ⺠Bifurcated H bonds exhibit destabilizing cooperative effects. ⺠Regular H bonds exhibit stabilizing cooperative effects. ⺠Stabilizing effects are larger than destabilizing cooperative effects.
