Abstract
⺠Electronic structure of several organochlorine insecticides has been determined by UV photoelectron spectroscopy and high-level ab initio calculations. ⺠The electronic structure obtained from spectra has been related to their biological activity. ⺠The molecular modes of binding to appropriate receptors are rationalized in view of the molecule's electronic structure and conformational flexibility.
