Abstract
High-magnetic-field XAS and XMCD spectra at the Yb L2,3 edges of YbInCu4 are calculated around 30Â T, where the field-induced valence transition occurs, by using a new theoretical framework developed recently by the present author. The results are compared with new experimental data, which were measured by Matsuda et al. by utilizing a miniature pulsed magnet up to 40Â T. The theory is also extended to the same XAS and XMCD spectra but at the Yb M5 edge of YbInCu4, which reflect more directly the field dependence of the Yb 4f electronic states than those at the Yb L2,3 edges.
