Abstract
⺠Nanocrystal orientation shown by Polarization-dependent Imaging Contrast (PIC) maps. ⺠PIC-mapping of carbonate biominerals reveals their ultrastructure at the nanoscale. ⺠The formation mechanisms of biominerals is discovered by PIC-mapping using PEEM.
