Abstract
In this communication we report the study of a ionic liquid (IL) performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and low energy ion scattering (LEIS). The data show how within the layer investigated by XPS (about 6 nm), the composition results the same as the bulk IL, while the LEIS spectra show how the outermost layer is mainly constituted by fluorine atoms.
