Abstract
A novel Pr3+ ions doped red phosphor Ca19Mg2(PO4)14:Pr3+was first synthesized and the phase purity as well as the characteristic photoluminescence property was investigated through X-ray diffraction, diffuse-reflectance and photoluminescence spectra measurement. The analysis revealed that Ca19Mg2(PO4)14:Pr3+ had strong absorption from 450 to 470Â nm and could exhibit red emission peaking around 610Â nm under 450Â nm excitation. The emission quenching behavior of 1D2-3H4 transitions via increasing the Pr3+ contents was investigated and the mechanism was discussed in detail. The temperature dependent emission spectra of Ca19Mg2(PO4)14:xPr3+ with different doping contents (x=0.002 and x=0.02) were studied and the abnormal thermal quenching property was investigated.
