Abstract
LiCaAlF6 is a versatile host material. Applications of this host as a scintillation detector and solid state laser have been reported quite frequently. Thermoluminescence glow curve structure of LiCaAlF6 based phosphors is sensitive to various factors such as preparation method and purity. For LiCaAlF6:Eu, co-doping with other rare earths simplifies the glow curve structure. It is reported here that LiCaAlF6:Eu,La is a highly sensitive thermoluminescence as well as optically stimulated luminescence phosphor with a simple glow curve structure. Results on the detailed characterization in context of possible applications to the dosimetry of ionizing radiations are presented.
