Abstract
The SrB2O4 single crystal doped with 0.5Â at% of europium has been grown by the Czochralski method. The Eu2+ broad emission in bulk crystal has been observed, upon excitation by a femtosecond laser. However, the efficiency of this emission does not exceed a value of 23% at 5Â K, assessed in the frame of the Inokuti-Hirayama model. The critical distance R0 was calculated to be 20.6Â Ã
, Cda 5.40Ã10â45Â m6/s for S=6. The calculated radiative lifetime based on the Inokuti-Hirayama equation is 14.28Â ns.
