Abstract
Sr3(Gd1âxDyx)(PO4)3 phosphors for white light-emitting diodes (w-LEDs) were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence spectra were utilized to characterize the structure and luminescence properties of the as-synthesized phosphors. Luminescence properties shows that the phosphor can be efficiently excited by the ultraviolet visible light in the region from 300 to 450 nm, and it exhibits blue (483 nm) and yellow (575 nm) emission corresponding to 4F9/2â6H15/2 transition and 4F9/2â6H13/2 transition, respectively. It has been found that concentration quenching occurs via dipole-dipole interaction according to Dexter׳s theory. The temperature dependence of photoluminescence properties is investigated from 25 to 250 °C and the prepared Sr3Gd(PO4)3:Dy3+ phosphors show good thermal quenching properties.
