Abstract
Amorphous YbF3:Er light conversion film has been successfully fabricated by the electron-beam deposition method. The amorphous film is featured with a transmittance above 95% in the region of 300-2000Â nm, with a smooth and homogeneous surface. Moreover, the film emits strong 656Â nm red light upon excitation by both 378Â nm and 980Â nm light. Depending on the highly transparent characteristics and promising ultraviolet and near-infrared conversion properties, the developed film reveals a high potential in application of novel light conversion devices, especially in solar cells.
