Abstract
SrB6O10·5H2O:Eu3+ nanostructures with different morphologies have been successfully fabricated with different surfactants or additives, and characterized by EDS, XRD, IR, SEM, PL and PLE. The experimental results showed that the surfactants or additives did not change the crystal structure of SrB6O10·5H2O:Eu3+ phosphors but greatly influenced their morphologies and luminescent properties. The SrB6O10·5H2O:Eu3+ red phosphor with opening book-like nanostructure prepared with CTAB as the surfactant exhibited stronger luminescent intensity and higher R/O value than those of other morphologies, and it also showed higher R/O values, higher quenching concentration of Eu and higher stability for Eu3+ than SrB6O10:Eu. Moreover, it also found that the emission intensity of SrB6O10·5H2O:xEu3+ is higher than SrB6O10:xEu when the concentration of doped Eu3+ is low (x≤0.03). These results indicate that SrB6O10·5H2O:Eu3+ could serve as a potential red phosphor.
