Abstract
In this present study, the combined effects of intense laser field and applied electric field on the nonlinear optical absorption and refractive index change in Ga1−xInxNyAs1−y/GaAs double quantum wells are theoretically investigated within the framework of the compact density matrix approach and iterative method. The energy eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenfunctions are calculated within the effective mass approximation and the envelope wave function approach. It has been seen that the effect of the intense laser field together with an applied electric field, causes an important modification in the confined energy states of the system, mainly due to the important changes in the potential shape induced by the laser field, treated within the laser-dressed approximation. Therefore, these external fields have a great influence on the optical absorption coefficients and refractive index changes of these systems.
