Abstract
A europium (III) chelate has been incorporated in a conjugated polymer, poly-[2,2â²-bipyridine-5,5â²-diyl-(2,5-dihexyl-1,4-phenylene)]. From the absorbance and emission spectra measurement and using the Judd-Ofelt theory, an efficient energy transfer between the conjugated polymer and the europium (III) chelate has been confirmed. The luminescence lifetime of Eu3+ ion in the conjugated polymer is 0.352Â ms and the emission cross section of this material is 3.11Ã10â21Â cm2.
