The optical absorption coefficient and refractive index changes of aspherical quantum dot placed at the center of a cylindrical nano-wire

► We considered a spherical QD which is located at the center of a nano-wire. ► The finite element method has been used to solve Schrodinger equation. ► The optical parameters have been calculated by means of the compact density matrix approach. ► We found that the nonlinear term of ACs and RI index changes have to be taken into account. ► By increasing the dot radius both blue and red shifts appear in the absorption coefficient.
