Abstract
⺠The red afterglow of Eu3+ in MWO4 (M=Sr, Ba) matrix is first observed. ⺠The blue shift of the charge-transfer band appears and its proposed explanation is discussed. ⺠The feasible mechanism of the afterglow is presented.
