Abstract
⺠Explores the models for intrinsic and extrinsic fracto-mechanoluminescence. ⺠Electron bombardment and electron capture models explain the fracto-ML of most solids. ⺠The fracto-ML consist of either the gas discharge or solid state luminescence or the combination of both. ⺠Understanding of the mechanisms of fracto-ML can be helpful in designing the fracto-ML based devices.
