Abstract
⺠Optical polarized absorption and emission spectra of Sm3+ doped in YAl3(BO3)4 are reported at low and room temperatures. ⺠All the detected lines are attributed to Sm3+ 4f internal transitions in D3 symmetry site. ⺠Stark energy levels are calculated with respect to their symmetry types. ⺠NV oscillator strength parameter shows a general trend along the rare earth elements.
