Abstract
⺠For the first time, luminescence characteristics of Lu2SiO5:Bi are reported. ⺠Ultraviolet emission arises from Bi3+ ions located in Lu1 and Lu2 lattice sites. ⺠Visible emission is ascribed to Bi3+-related localized excitons. ⺠Relaxed excited states parameters of Bi3+-related centers are determined. ⺠Bi3+-doped oxyorthosilicates are found to be perspective scintillation materials.
