Abstract
► SrI2 doped with 1% Eu2+ single crystal is successfully grown and characterized. ► The room temperature scintillation decay is ∼100 ns slower than the photoluminescence decay. ► Scintillation decay measured at 10 K is similar to the photoluminescence decay. ► Thermoluminescence reveals a dominant charge carrier trap which contributes to the scintillation decay.
