Abstract
⺠A method of optical refrigeration of solids to sub-Kelvin temperatures is outlined. ⺠Stimulated Raman transitions plus fast fluorescence can cool solids effectively. ⺠A new, red detuning condition that avoids configuration relaxation is identified.
