Photoluminescence and EPR studies of BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ phosphor with blue-emission synthesized by the solution combustion method

► Powder phosphor of BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ was prepared by combustion reaction with ignition temperatures of 500°C in a very short time (<5 min). ► The phosphor exhibits a bright blue emission at 450 nm (4f65d→4f7 transition of Eu2+). ► From electron paramagnetic resonance and photoluminescence studies it was found that Eu2+ ions are occupying in two sites in this phosphor.
